Health Report Card 2011

I had my annual health screening on December 19 and I got my results today. Overall, I was quite happy with the results though I came up short on a few goals of mine.
I had a few health goals which I set last year:
- reduce weight from 64kg to 60kg
- lower cholesterol levels
- leaner body
- finish SC 21k marathon in 2:30
I am happy to share that my current weight is 60kg and I was able to lower my bad cholesterol from xxx to 134. My doctor said that this is still not an optimal level and I’d admit that I was a bit surpised as I had expected that I’d reached my goal because I really cut down on eating prawns, crabs, squids and all those high in cholesterol seafoods. Also limited eating red meat. I stuck to fish, chicken, fruits and vegetables all year long. However, my doctor told me to also avoid fried, oily and creamy foods.
My waistline got smaller by about 2 inches as I was able to flatten my tummy. I also worked out at the gym a little bit which resulted in a leaner body.
I wasn’t able to reach my goal in Standard Chartered half marathon but I was still able to improve my timing to 2:51 compared to 2:58 last year. I wasn’t able to do my training diligently on the 2nd half of the year due to busy schedule and unpredictable weather. I was really not planning to run anymore due to lack of training and afraid that I might injure myself but decided on the last minute to participate regardless of the result. In my mind, just finish the race!
However, I was able to finish my Timex half marathon last July in 2:25 so nothing to frown about.
